Vancouver Island Baby Fair

Saturday September 30th 2017 10am-5pm & Sunday October 1st 2017 10am-4pm
The 11th annual Vancouver Island Baby Fair is coming up at Pearkes Recreation Centre in Victoria, BC, featuring everything under one roof for prenatal, birth, breastfeeding, babies, toddlers, preschoolers, parents, and grandparents too!

Activities and things to look forward to are Baby Races, Vancouver Island Baby Fair Photo Contest, Shopping of the latest and fun baby & parenting products, Main Stage Speakers & Kids Entertainment, Kids Corner play space, Free Car Seat Clinic…and MORE! ONGOING FALL EVENTS

Moss Street Market
Saturdays, 10am-2pm, May – October 2017 and Winter Market 10am-12pm, November – April
The Moss Street Market is always a fun place to wander around on a Saturday! You can find various fresh fruits/veggies/crafts/art for sale, yummy lunch options, and often live music. The Winter Market is held indoors from 10am-12pm every Saturday from November through April.

Parent & Tot Music Time at Bumble & Hive
Tuesdays 1-1:45pm and Fridays 10:15-11am
An interactive music time with Alyssa, at Bumble and Hive in the Victoria Public Market. According to their Facebook page, a second weekly music time has just been added for Fridays from 10:15-11am. Please confirm in advance that these classes run every week through the Fall.

Sidney/North Saanich Library Events
ONGOING
The Sidney-North Saanich Library offers Good Morning Storytime on Thursday mornings from 10:30-11:15am (starting Sept 21st). Storytime is a fun time for children 0-5 years old, and includes stories, songs, rhymes, and movement. Other events for families and children are advertised on the library’s website under ‘Branch Events’.

Tot Tuesdays at the Shaw Centre for the Salish Sea
Tuesdays, 10:30-11:30am, beginning October 3rd 2017
Suitable for children ages 3-5 years, Tot Tuesdays is a morning full of stories, crafts, and activities – all with a different ocean theme each week! The October 3rd theme is Schooling Salmon.

Home Depot Kids Workshops
Typically the 1st Saturday of each month
Home Depot locations around town offer Kids Workshops on the first Saturday of every month. The October workshop hasn’t been advertised yet, but keep your eye on the website for further details. Side note: Mamas, Home Depot also offers ‘Do-It-Herself’ and ‘Do-It-Yourself’ workshops if you’re looking for something to do without the kids!

Wonder Sundays at the BC Royal Museum
Sundays, 1-3pm
Wonder Sundays is a family event that includes themed activities and lively presentations. Wonder Sunday activities are free with admission to the museum.

Museum Tots at The Maritime Museum
Saturdays, 11am-12pm, September 23rd – December 16th 2017
Bring your little ones (ages 2-5) to explore museum learning through crafts, play, song, and dance. Check out this list of upcoming themes.

SEPTEMBER

Pendray’s Cornmaze
September (Friday – Sunday) & October (Thursday – Sunday) 2017
The Vancouver Island Cornmaze is created by Pendray Farms, here on the Peninsula. It began in 2015, and is a fun event for families and kids of all ages. Please check their website for current hours.

Luxton Fall Fair
Friday – Sunday, September 15th-17th 2017
The Luxton Fair features mid-way rides and games, live entertainment, antique farming equipment, museum displays, and more.

One Day 2017
Saturday September 16th 2017, 10am-3pm
“The purpose of One Day is to celebrate the diversity in our community through the planning of a free, family-oriented celebration of everyone in our community”. The event is held at Topaz Park and includes live entertainment, BBQ lunch, games and activities, Kids Zone, and more.

Fall Threshing at Heritage Acres
Saturday – Sunday, September 16th & 17th 2017, 9am-3pm
I’ve never been to this event, but apparently it’s been running since 1974 and “is always a popular event for children of all ages from 2 to 102”! The event includes threshing, steam engine/blacksmith/tractor demonstrations, train rides, and food from the Pantry Kitchen!

Colwood Seaside Festival
Sunday September 17th 2017, 10am-4pm
Horse drawn carriages, live music, kids crafts and activities, vintage dress up and selfie station, and more – all at Fort Rodd Hill and Fisgard Lighthouse.

Chapters Batman Day Teen Event
Saturday September 23rd 2017, 12-3pm
A free event for teens, where you can dress up as your favourite Superhero and enjoy prizes and a photo booth at Chapters Victoria!

IndigoKids Weekend with Pokemon
Saturday September 23rd 2017, 11am-1pm
Pokemon fun, trading events, and more – held at Chapters Victoria!

Sharon & Bram Kids Concert
Sunday September 24th 2017, 2:00pm
Sharon & Bram, part of the famous trio Sharon, Lois & Bram, are coming to Victoria! Get your tickets to enjoy their live show with your little ones!

Apple Day Celebrations at Sea Cider Farm and Ciderhouse
Sunday September 24th 2017, 11am-4pm
This event looks like an awesome family event! Check out the orchard, tours, live music, food – and of course apple cider for the adults!

Seaside 10K 5K & Kids Dash
Sunday September 24th 2017, 9am-12pm
This is a family-friendly event that shows off the beauty of the town of Sidney! The Kids Dash is 1K, and ends in a fun party! Registration required.

Movie Night at the Victoria Public Market
Wednesday September 27th 2017, 7pm
This month, Victoria Public Market will be showing the classic movie ET The Extra Terrestrial. Movie night is by donation, and movie-goers are encouraged to bring their own folding chairs, and head down to the Market early for dinner!

IndigoKids Weekend with Fuji Film Instax
Saturday September 30th, 11am-1pm
Head down to Chapters Victoria where kids will learn how to make their own book with Fuji Film.

Vancouver Island Baby Fair
Saturday September 30th 2017 10am-5pm & Sunday October 1st 2017 10am-4pm
Swing by Pearkes Recreation Centre to explore everything baby: prenatal, birth, breastfeeding, babies, toddlers, preschoolers, and more!

Moon Festival Lantern Celebration
Saturday September 30th 2017, 5:00-8:30pm
Enjoy this free family event at Gordon Head Recreation Centre and Lambrick Park, featuring dance and musical performances, lantern making for children, an illuminated lantern procession through the park, and more.

OCTOBER

Pendray’s Cornmaze
September (Friday – Sunday) & October (Thursday – Sunday) 2017

Pumpkinfest at Galey Farms
2017 dates TBA – CHECK BACK!
Pumpkinfest is typically held at Galey Farms every October and includes live entertainment, face painting, kids games, hay rides, u-pick pumpkins, train rides, corn maze, playground, petting farm, and more. We have been to this event with family and friends and really enjoyed it. The only thing I would say is that the kids haunted house and some of the spooky parts of the train ride were a bit too spooky for our little one!

GoodLife Fitness Victoria Marathon – Thrifty Foods Kids Run
Sunday October 8th 2017
The GoodLife Fitness Marathon includes a run/walk for children 12 years and under. It’s a 1.25km race, and parents can run/walk with their child. Children receive a T-shirt and medal for participating, and can also experience the Canada 150 activities happening at the festival! Registration is required for this event.

VIME/SHAS Halloween at Heritage Acres
Friday – Sunday, October 20th-22nd 2017, 4-8:30pm
This event is great for little ones! Activities vary year by year, but typically features pumpkin carving, face painting, a haunted house, and more.

BC Forest Discovery Centre Halloween Train
October 20th-22nd & 26th-30th 2017, 3:30-9pm
This event isn’t a local Victoria one, but it sounds like fun! Families have the opportunity to ride the Green Hornet train and explore Halloween scenes and characters, enjoy trick or treating and Halloween crafts, and even haunted houses.

Forest Spook-tacular
Sunday October 22nd 2017, 11am-2pm
Join CRD Regional Park Naturalists for this drop-in event, including displays, Halloween crafts, and hot ghoulish brew. Guided walks will take place at 11:15am and 1:15pm.

Movie Night at the Victoria Public Market
Wednesday October 25th 2017, 7pm
This month the Victoria Public Market will be showing the original Ghostbusters movie. Movie night is by donation, and movie-goers are encouraged to bring their own folding chairs, and head down to the Market early for dinner!

Fall Family Fest at Henderson Recreation Centre
Friday October 27th 2017, 6-8pm
Join Oak Bay Rec for “an evening of spooktackular games and activities for all ages!”

Wicked Victoria
Sunday October 29th 2017, 12-5pm
A pedestrian-only family event on Government Street that celebrates the Harvest season and Halloween. Costumes are encouraged!

October 29-31 2017
Go on a hunt around town for pumpkins at participating businesses. Vote for your favourite and you could win a prize! Then on October 30 and 31, from 3:30-6pm, head downtown for some Trick or Treating with your little ones!

Cute Little Spooks Kindergym Party at Panorama Recreation
Tuesday October 31st 2017, 9:30-11:30am
This event is offered through Panorama, at Greenglade Community Centre. Children 1-5 years old can come enjoy Kindergym toys and activities, as well as Halloween crafts, a visit from Slider, and a Costume Parade! See page 11 of Panorama’s Brochure for more information.

3rd Annual Treat Street in Sidney
Tuesday October 31st 2017, 4-6pm
A trick or treating event for little ones in downtown Sidney. Bring the kids to trick or treat along Beacon Avenue at Treat Stations and some local stores, and then check out Panorama’s Spook Zone at Mary Winspear Centre!

Oak Bay Pumpkin Art & Trick or Treat on the Avenue & Bonfire

Every year, Oak Bay organizes a big family-friendly Halloween event. It typically includes Trick or Treating on the avenue, followed by a giant bonfire. Hundreds of intricately carved pumpkins are also on display behind the Municipal Hall.

NOVEMBER

Raffi Children’s Concert
Sunday November 19th 2017, 1pm and 4pm shows
Famous children’s singer Raffi, known for songs such as “Baby Beluga”, is coming to Victoria! There are two shows at the Royal Theater on Sunday November 19th: 1:00 and 4:00pm. Tickets can be purchased online.

Island Farms Santa Light Parade
Saturday November 25th 2017, 4:45pm
Victoria’s Santa Parade! Enjoy the floats and bands, and then head to Centennial Square afterwards to see Santa!

Movie Night at the Victoria Public Market
Wednesday November 29th 2017, 7pm
The Victoria Public Market will be showing a Christmas movie this month: The Holiday. Movie night is by donation, and movie-goers are encouraged to bring their own folding chairs, and head down to the Market early for dinner!
